Privacy Policy
Last updated July 1, 2026
This policy explains what Wingbie (wingbie.com) collects, why, and the choices you have, across our website and our iOS and Android apps. Wingbie is operated by Wingbie Inc. (the “Company”, “we”, “us”). We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws, including Quebec’s Law 25 and the British Columbia and Alberta Personal Information Protection Acts. By using Wingbie you agree to the practices described here. Some information differs by role — Members (clients) and Wings (coaches) — as noted below.
Information we collect
Account & profile: your name, email, age confirmation, role, timezone, and preferences. Members may add a photo and their goals; Wings additionally provide a bio, photo and intro videos, location, skills, and availability.
Dating journey & journal: optional information you choose to add about your dating situation and goals, and a private journal of people you’re dating, dates, and green/red flags. Your journal is private by default; you decide if any of it is shared with a Wing you book. We treat this as sensitive personal information.
Bookings, messages & reviews: sessions you request, notes, recaps, reviews, advisor questions, matchmaker opt-ins, in-person safety-check details (such as an emergency contact and meeting location), and your conversations with the other party.
Payments & payouts: processed by Stripe. We store payment and payout records, subscription and boost purchases, and Wing Credit balances, but never your full card details (Stripe handles those directly). Wings complete Stripe’s connected-account onboarding, which involves identity and tax information provided to Stripe to enable payouts.
Verification (Wings): to keep the community safe, Wings undergo identity verification and, for in-person offerings, background screening carried out by third-party providers. We receive the result and status of these checks.
Recordings (sensitive information): if you and the other participant both consent, a session’s audio and/or video may be recorded. We only capture recordings with explicit, informed consent at the time of the call, store them privately, and auto-expire them after 90 days.
AI assistant: questions you ask our in-app AI assistant are processed to generate a response and to prevent abuse.
Usage & analytics: limited activity such as profile views and basic session/call analytics, used to operate the Service and give Wings insight into their practice.
Mobile & device: when you use our apps, we may collect device and app information, a push-notification token (to send reminders and alerts you enable), and — with your permission — access to your camera and microphone (for video sessions) and photos (for uploads). You can manage these permissions in your device settings.
Technical: IP address and device/browser info, used for security, rate-limiting, and abuse prevention.
Consent
We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent. You provide consent when you create an account and accept this policy, and we obtain express consent for sensitive activities — most importantly, recording a session, which requires the explicit agreement of every participant. Where required by Quebec’s Law 25, our settings default to the most privacy-protective option, and we ask for consent separately for each distinct purpose. You may withdraw consent at any time (see “Your choices & rights”), subject to legal or contractual limits.
How we use it
To run the Service — match Members with Wings, schedule and host sessions, process payments, credits and payouts, verify Wings, send transactional and reminder notifications, provide support, surface reviews and analytics, meet legal and tax obligations, and keep the platform safe.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for third-party advertising, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf to deliver Wingbie: Supabase (database & authentication), Stripe (payments and Wing payouts), LiveKit (live video/audio sessions), Cloudflare R2 (file and recording storage), Groq (AI assistant), Brevo (email delivery), our identity/background-check provider (Wing verification), Google Analytics (measuring use of our marketing site, wingbie.com), and push-notification and app-store services (Apple and Google) for our mobile apps and any in-app purchases. Each processes data only as needed to provide their service. Members and Wings also share information with each other as necessary to arrange and conduct a booked session. We further disclose information when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Where your data is stored (cross-border transfers)
Some of our service providers store or process data on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States and other countries. As a result, your personal information — including recordings — may be transferred to, stored in, and accessed from outside your province or country, where it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions (including lawful access by foreign authorities). We take contractual and technical steps intended to protect personal information that is handled outside Canada. In particular, our video infrastructure runs on servers in the European Union (Germany), and other providers (such as payment, database, email, and AI services) process data primarily in the United States and the European Union.
Data retention
We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law:
• Account, profile, journey & journal data: while your account is active, then removed or anonymized on deletion.
• Session recordings: automatically deleted/unlinked 90 days after the session.
• Payment, payout, and transaction records: retained as required by tax and accounting law (commonly up to 6–7 years in Canada), in a form stripped of unnecessary personal details.
• Wing verification records: retained only as long as needed for trust-and-safety and legal purposes.
• Wing Credit: expires as disclosed when it is issued (refund credit expires 12 months after issuance).
Your choices & rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct inaccuracies, to delete your account and data, to withdraw consent, and to data portability. Under Quebec’s Law 25 you may also request that we cease disseminating personal information or de-index it where the legal conditions are met.
You can exercise most of these rights directly from Settings on the web or in the app: edit your profile and timezone, export a copy of your data as a downloadable file, and permanently delete your account. Deleting your account removes or anonymizes your personal data; some records (e.g. financial transactions) may be retained where required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. For any request we can’t fully self-serve, contact our Privacy Officer below; we respond within the timeframes required by law.
Cookies, mobile identifiers & similar technologies
In the app we use strictly necessary first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to secure the Service. In our mobile apps we use equivalent local storage and a push-notification token for the same purposes.
Analytics on our marketing site. Our public website (wingbie.com) uses Google Analytics to measure how the site is found and used — which pages get read, and which searches bring people here. It sets first-party cookies for this. We have switched off Google Signals and ad personalisation for this property, so what we collect is not used to build an advertising profile of you and not used to follow you across other sites.
We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell personal information. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on to exclude yourself from the measurement above. Blocking cookies in the app, or disabling notifications in your device settings, may prevent you from signing in or receiving reminders.
Security & breach notification
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the relevant privacy authorities (including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and, where applicable, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec) as required by law, and keep records of breaches.
Age
Wingbie is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app and/or by email, and the “Last updated” date above will change. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
